Mexico D.F.

We woke up late today after our rather traumatic and long day yesterday, and found a rather (justifiably) annoyed April, who had been awaiting a call from Mai in the D.F bus station for the last seven hours. I'm glad it wasn't me in either of their places! After getting another room and some breakfast, we were off to the centre to D.F's biggest gallery, Centro de Bellas Artes, to see a Frida Kahlo exhibition, the biggest there has ever been. It had nearly all of her work, including some released from Madonna's private collection. It also turned out that our new friend Robert had pretty extensively studied Kahlo, so we had a guided tour round the exhibit, with an explanation of some of the interpretations of practically every painting. He really is a useful guy to know!
After a couple of hours at the exhibition, we ended up in the Zócalo with Robert and his cousins. We had initially planned to get the Tour Bus around Mexico City, but it was already getting late, and after a while we decided against it. We looked around the Cathedral, and shortly settled down to drinking beer out of paper cups in the Zócalo, where we ended up staying until nightfall. People got their hair braided, and we took some photos of us doing stupid stuff, and eventually cleared off to the party we had been invited to by Claudia. Mai, April and I arrived a little later at the party, after deciding that it was a bit cold for shorts and a T-shirt (D.F. is surprisingly cold at night), and by the time we got there everyone was already pretty far gone. Some were further than others.Nevertheless it was a great party, with the cheap beer and pints of Rum and Coke flowing freely, and we pretty soon got in to the spirit of it. There was also a man who appeared with a horrible game where you conduct electricity through a ring of people, which started off being an odd feeling, and as more and more people gave up and the current got stronger, turned in to a painful arm-cramping one. Needless to say I wasn't one of the brave (stupid) final few. After the party was over, Nicky went back to the house, where the after-party was planned, and April, me and Mai retired gracefully back to our hotel. The better option, I think!
